The Safe Harbor designation recognizes U.S. based companies, who meet or exceed directives of the European Union for data privacy and protection. The Safe Harbor framework was created by the U.S. Department of Commerce in consultation with the Europe Commission’s Directive on Data Protection to bridge differences in countries’ privacy approaches and provide a streamlined means for U.S. organizations to comply with data protection laws.
